Preliminary Examination of SBI PO Selection Process 2021

Phase I: This phase of SBI selection process is basically a scrutiny process that helps to identify quality candidates for SBI PO Main Examination. This is an online test which consists of 100 multiple choice questions of 100 marks.  Candidates will get 1 hour for this test. There will be three sections in this test as follows:

Candidates have to secure passing marks in all three sections separately. Bank decides the passing marks criteria.  A sufficient number of candidates in each category will be shortlisted for the Main Examination, as determined by the Bank (about 10 times the number of openings, subject to availability). 

Main Examination of SBI PO Selection Process 2021

Phase II: This is the second phase of SBI PO Selection process. This phase will decide how many candidates will reach the final selection. Main Examination consists of 200 marks Objective Tests and a 50 marks Descriptive Test.

 

(i) First part of the main examination is divided into 4 sections. Candidates will get a total of 3 hours time to complete this test.  Section wise details are given below:

(ii) The “Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay)” will be the subject of a 30-minute descriptive test of 50 marks.

 

Note: Only candidates who have received qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are positioned appropriately high in terms of total marks in the Objective Tests will be evaluated for the Descriptive Test paper.

Group Exercise and Interview of SBI PO Selection Process 2021

Phase III:  This phase is also divided into two parts. First is Group Exercises (20 Marks) and second is Interview (30 marks).

In each category, the aggregate marks of applicants who passed both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be listed in descending order. A sufficient number of candidates in each category will be called for Group Exercises and Interviews, as determined by the Bank. The Bank will determine the qualifying marks in Group Exercises and Interview.

 

Final Selection in SBI PO Selection Process 2021

The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added to the final selection of candidates.  Marks obtained in the Main Examination (Phase-II) (both in Objective Test and Descriptive Test) and the marks obtained in the GE& Interview (Phase-III) will be used for the preparation of the final merit list.

Candidates will have to qualify in both Phases II and III independently. Candidates’ marks in the Written Test (out of 250) are converted to out of 75, while their marks in Group Exercises and Interview (out of 50) are transformed to out of 25.

The final merit list is determined by averaging the converted marks from the Written Test, Group Exercises, and Interview for each category out of 100. Candidates with the highest merit scores in each area will be chosen. The results of the candidates who qualified for Group Exercises and Interviews, as well as the final list of candidates, will be posted on the Bank’s website. The final list will be published in Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar as well as on the Bank’s website.
